Not Everything is Cancelled: Yoga Online
“Do the pose the way you’d do it if you were at home in your living room.” Some years ago my teacher, Jason Crandell said that to us in the midst of a challenging studio class in San Francisco. The point being that there’s no one to impress. The practice is all yours. Do your work. Don’t suffer. Feel and deal.
Welp, here we all are in our living/dining rooms... doing our best to practice all the things that yoga and mindfulness have to offer and teach us. No one to judge us, except maybe our cats.
Online yoga has fast become wellness resource that keeps us connected to each other. It guides us back to the present moment. That sense of routine and normalcy a yoga practice brings is gold no matter where it takes place. I’m so grateful for it. It’s been so good to reconnect virtually with yoga friends who live out of town and can’t make my in-person classes. More than ever the pressure is off. Showing up is all there is to do. No expensive athletic attire required. The motivation to keep moving comes from within. You are designed to move. Don’t overthink it. Just be here now.
Right now, I don’t think any of us have the answers about how long this is going to last or when this new normal will feel… normal, but I want you to know that I’m thinking of you and if you find yourself needing a wellness resource during this time, I’m here.
