More Of This. Less Of That.

I tucked this up in my IG stories where I thought no one was looking and people noticed.

MORE OF THIS:

  • Adapting a yoga pose or exercise so you can keep doing it with less pain.

  • Getting creative in how you support yourself during yoga and fitness activities.

LESS OF THIS:

  • Eliminating yoga/exercise to avoid pain at all costs.

  • Ignoring pain because you can’t, you won’t miss a single sun salutation.

  • Apologizing for not being or feeling 100%

We now know (thanks movement science) that we don’t have to cease all activity when we have pain or injury.
Getting creative in how we support ourselves allows us to keep doing the things we enjoy. We do this by adapting the intensity and the amount of yoga or exercise we’re doing. Regress to progress. I spend a lot of time teaching private clients how to do this. It’s what I do and it’s incredibly rewarding and empowering work.

As ever, ignoring/pushing through pain because we can’t bear to miss out on even one sun salutation is not the solution. You don’t have to apologize for honoring/listening to your body. Please, please be you.

Yoga is a lot of things but it is not pain. Run from any yoga teacher that tries to put a spiritual spin on your overuse shoulder pain in chaturanga. *yes I am speaking from real life encounter.
